June 8, 2023 ENR hearing (senate.gov): Daines said East Coast residents waking to smoke — “birds coughing,” ground stops at Philadelphia and slowdowns at LaGuardia — were getting “what we deal with out West virtually every summer.” He pushed a 9th Circuit Cottonwood fix and forest treatment, said seasons are longer and summers warmer, and framed the answer as cutting red tape and litigation, not climate legislation.
