Statement record
Ted Cruz — Jan 10, 2025
U.S. Senator (R-TX) · Jan 10, 2025
On the January 10, 2025 Verdict podcast, Sen. Ted Cruz said Democratic politicians answer “any crisis” with “climate change, climate change, climate change,” and that this “doesn’t absolve the elected officials of the responsibility to put policies in place that keep people safe.” He blamed Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for a “deliberate decision” to slash the fire-department budget “in spite of warnings,” calling the consequences catastrophic. Response-blame and anti-climate-excuse framing. No climate attribution. Not Republican obstruction of climate policy.
Analysis notes
Republican senator. In-window. GOP yes. Does not affect the Democratic score.
